The most common types of pavers are the following

Brick pavers

Methods of Paver Installation

The choice of the installation method depends on the usage of the pavement. Some pavers are used for pedestrians, others for light and heavy vehicles. The weather conditions in a given area also determine the type and method of paver installation. Some regions are exposed to water, and others to both water and freezing. In some cases, the pavers are meant for interior use.

There are three options for paver settings that are involved in the installation process. These are:

• Sand set pavers:These are pavements whose setting can be changed depending on the extent to which the pavement will be exposed. The installation process starts with sorting the soil and compressing it beneath the pavers. A drainage system is then placed on top of the earth to enhance the sewerage. Sand set pavers are the most economical, have low installation cost, and user-friendly.
• Bitumen set pavers: Refers to a type of pavement setting that allows selective movement. The installation is not permanent, and if subjected to high traffic of motor vehicles, they can experience fractures and cracks. Bitumen installation is made to accommodate minimal movement and requires regular maintenance to prevent damage to pavers.
• Mortar pavers: The most permanent installation method is durable and can sustain a high volume of traffic. The installation system is made up of a concrete foundation and a drainage layer at the bottom. Mortar pavers are resistant to fatigue from traffic and require minimal maintenance cost.
